yay a chance to run the Ather mod

I was having a look around and found this... MC Nostalgia

you can find the instructions and a download link from here

this will hopefully allow me to downgrade to a low enough version of mine craft to be able to install the Ather. I am also going to attemp to create a build swapper tool for Windows that will allow me to manage the build of minecraft by copying the .mincraft contents into a subdirectory structure with saves and texture pack included.

this will be a work in progress and will be useful for when you want states of minecraft for different mod sets.

if you wish to assist, please donate and that will help to pay for the licensing for the development software and for hosting once I have the tool completed.

also please let me know if you are interested in being a tester.

Twilight forest mod.

I have just installed the twilight forest mod into a build. I am trying to see if I can run this in conjunction with my regular build and if so I will be able to visit the twilight realm at some stage from my factory realm.

if I have any confliction's then I will have a second build that I will use. and I will do an spotlight on this mod. it looks to be quite and interesting mod and will give a nice bit of variety.

Well the new is that I have added some new mods to my minecraft build so I am going to also record segments from my build craft world.

I have installed Buildcraft, Additional pipes, Railcraft, TF portals and sentries, and recipe book. I also have too many items installed but for my series's it will only be used to remove the damn rain. lol

I think what I am going to try and do is run through creating an oil station and quarry station that is then transported to my home village/factory (I didn't get building consent from the villages, hope they don't mind)

Not sure when I will post my first video for that, I will have to keep you posted.

First video post is up.

well as a trial run I decided to do a survival series as it is easier to plan out while I am still learning about my video recording and editing software packages.

so far I am happy with what I am putting together, it seems to be a little easier then I thought but at the same time it is still fun and challenging.

I have seen that industrial craft is close to being release for 1.0.0 - hopefully in the new year I will be able to start on the series that most interests me.

until then though I am going to be doing a weekly release for the Infernal sky II - survival map series. this will give me a indication of whether or not I will be able to pick up a following. I think I will be posting them on sunday NZ time (+12) so will be saturday for a lot of people. this may change depending on if the clips are successful or I record more per week then expected.

like anything though good things come to those that wait. (although in this case don't wait, the more content I put out the more I will get seen and the better at it I will get.)

so for everyone out there I will say enjoy these festive days before Christmas, and if I don't post before hand then "Merry Christmas"

Minecraft mod Reviews

I am going to be starting to do some Mod reviews for minecraft, I will start to compile a list of mods that I will review and I am going to record some small segments on each mod and start posting them up to the channel as I am still waiting on IC2 to update and I am also considering that I will wait until I can use it on bukkit as I would like my daughter to be able to join me some times on the episodes.

so to start with I would like people to let me know their favourite mods that they think I should review.

I will post a list of the scheduled mods once I have compiled the list, if you don't see a mod I should review then please let me know.  I want to take a leaf from xxxSlyxxx and Chimneyswift11 with the community being what drives what I do.

New video capture software

I have now found a nice package to record video at a smaller file size and will do some more testing with that.

I have also been playing with some packs for mincraft while I am still waiting for the industrial craft 2 mod to be updated.  there is some news that it will be updated soonish, but the developer will not give a time as he doesn't want to set a release time and then not reach that deadline due to the additions he might put into the mod.

I have just had a look into the mod that adds cart tracks and signialing, OMG what a complex mod.  I can see that being a lot of fun and I might include that in my videos as I think it would be nice for the transportation of oil.

I think also I might look at adding the laser mod so that I can put up defences around the factories I am planning on building.  I think I might run that in conjuntion with TF2 sentries and I am going to use the TF2 Transporters so that I can move around between my builds.

Did a trial of Fraps to record for about 10 to 15 mins of a starting play through. Had a look at the footage, 39 gig's of data, wow.

I think I am going to need to do some research into how to record into a more compressed version as if I get a long recording session going it will fill my hard drive in no time.

other then that I am still holding off with the actual recording and "series" as I am still waiting for industrial craft to be updated to 1.0.0  but I have been playing with some other mods I may include such as TF2 teleporters and Sentries (kinda fun) and XPBank just so I don't loose my orbs.

if anyone has any suggestions about mods I should check out or have any suggestion on what recoding tool I should use to keep the disk size down please let me know.

Power Converters (EPIC FAIL)

So I was trying to sort out some interaction between build buildcraft and industrial craft with the use of the crystal power converter mod. turns out my attempt was an epic fail.

I am not sure if it is because I was lazy and installed the technic pack to get all the addons I wanted. I am going to start fresh with a new install just the addons I want which is primarly just buildcraft, industrial craft and red power.

I might skip mo creatures as the rats have been pestering me lots. if there are any other addons that you feel would be good then let me know.

I dont want to use too many items though as I find getting items that way is too easy and tempting.

I am Neoublie, I am a 34 year old gamer and computer programmer. I have been involved in computers since I assembled my first IBM 8086 XT personal computer.
I have been using computers ever since. I have fond memories of my overclocked i486dx 4-100 kicking my friends pentiums in performance while playing doom and duke nukem multiplayer in our coaxual network, only when we didn't loose the cable terminators :D
Wow showing my age a little huh.
These days I have been mostly involved with World of warcraft and have been playing that since vanilla. how ever with a new addition to the family I have taken a break from that and I am leaving my guild in the hands on one of my best friends Mark.
In the absence of wow to play I have been spending a lot of time playing Minecraft (what is it about the addictiveness of games ending in the word craft).
I have two accounts what I own so that my oldest daughter and I can play.
I have a passion for the buildcraft and industrial craft mods as it adds a level of complexity that keeps my problem solving mind entertained with new stuctures and factories.
So leading to this I have decided I would try and start writing about my endevours in minecraft. although I can't really start until buildcraft and industrialcraft are ready for 1.0.0 - after which I will start my path into maybe a lets play or something. I know my daughter is really keen on doing her own version of groups like the yogscast or the excommunicated guys.
to start with I am going to do plan out some things to build and then build them for a world in 1.8.1 the IC2 and BC. then when I can migrate to the 1.0.0 ic2 and bc I will start a new world with my daughter as a guest star in some youtube videos as I give a tour and then start recording my builds.
I look forward to showing you my work and also showing off the skins my daughter is making as she has taken an interest in that.
