Modding with MCP and forge (update)

Hello all,

well I have been doing a little work on the coding I need to learn for my mod and I have been able to make a few new block in the game that can be brought in with creative mod.

Turned out to be easier then I thought it would be to get them created to start with.  how ever best practice for how to lay out and make your classes modular is something none of the tutorials I have been reading, teach.

so I think I am going to have to try and figure out the most manageable way to structure my code.  I hope that I can get it nice and clean so that when I release the code people will be able to learn from it clearly and also not laugh at how noob'ish my first mod might be.

other than working on the mod I have have a fairly busy weekend, and surprisingly not much to do with computers of video games. lol.

Saturday was a nice trip down to Alexandria for the Blossom Festival with my wife and daughters, and then Sunday was an interesting and tiring spring clean of the house.  spend a good few hours at it and only managed to get about maybe 15% of the stuff fully sorted. my family are such hoarders.  I thought I was bad when it came to CD's and DVD's full of files I don't want to delete. lol

anyhow  I will be back into getting some more content up and ready for the Realm tonight so hopefully I will have an episode up then.

ps. feel free to post any good 1.3.2 forge modding tutorials that you find and ...

until next time

Wow, I is so slack lol

Hello everybody, as you can tell from the gap between posts I have been very slack,  this is due to real life issues/responsibilities and limited time to even get videos up.

I am going to try getting back into a better situation so I can start getting more regular content out and also set aside some time for my newest EPIC mine-craft adventure, trying to learn how to mod.

I have some ideas about the kind of mod I am going to be working on and I am going to start putting together some of the initial development ideas.  I am planning on doing some incremental component releases as things become available.  presently there will be no additional world generation but may make use of the ores added by forestry, primary bronze. how ever this will mean that for a short period of time(until I learn and plan out world gen) you will require forestry and forge to be included.

I will be building this on Forge and do plan on it being SMP as some of the things are going to be designed around multiple players and some security stuff, (no spoilers yet though)

the First Phase is going to be a module that adds the blocks required for some of the themed buildings and possibly also a few items.

I am also looking for some talented artists for work on textures and possible some coders to assist with the models and UI's I am going to be needing for my vision of this mod to come to fruition.

finally this will be developed as open source and I will have the repository up on github (as soon as I can get my head around it. I normally use svn) and I will also build api's so that they can be interacted with by other mod.

but until I have more development completed, which is based on more learning of mod development, I will only say watch this space.

And for a temporary code name (until I think of something better) let say...

code name: Project Shadow

On the Dawn of a New Era

First I would like to say a massive thanks, as over the last few weeks I have been a massive increase in my video views and a few extra likes.

I would also like to say a big hello to the minecraft forums as well as I have now started posting my series videos over there and there has been good response of views.

I am planning of starting a series thread over there so that there will be a more communal way to chat about the series and the upcoming changes etc.

Finally the News stated in the Title of this post, We are standing almost at the Dawn of a New Era. I have two announcement that I am excited about, first I have finally taken the plunge and started to dabble in live streaming via Twitch.Tv. Look up TheNeoublie the same as you would for YouTube and my twitter is @TheNeoublie.

As always,

Video views Growing, now over 5300

I am happy to say that the video views keep on climbing and I am getting some comments back saying I am on the right path, I still would like suggestions on what I can do to get some more exposure.

I have started to look into keywords and posting on some other locations like the minecraft forums video section.  that looks to be helping.  one day soon I hope to beat the 62 and higher subscription number as it has been bouncing between 59 and 61 for a while. lol.

I have now got my first world download up and that was just at the 5000 video view mark.  my intention now will be a world upload every 10 episodes. so with two a week it shouldn't take too long. (please let me know if you are even interested in playing in my world.)

other than that, not a lot has been happening. been spending a lot of time with my daughter, she is learning so much and since she hit 1 she has seemed to start learning everything so much faster.

I am in the process now of trying to get a new co-op series going with adnzl that will air on both TheNeoublie and uplatewithads channels.  Not sure this will be Minecraft or maybe something else.

Well back to the boring old day job, talk to you soon in the next episode.

As always,

OVER 4000!!!

Lol OK still not over 9000 but we have hit a nice milestone. Thank you all for helping out to make this happen.  We are slowly getting there. And with only 57 subscribers.

Just imagine what we can do once more people get to know about my channel. Hopefully I can post some time saying over 4000 on a single newish video. That would be awesome.

So if you know of ways to promote the videos you like please do so.  If you use Reddit you can post there and help get some more views or maybe link in goggle+/facebook.

But of course hitting that like button is helping as well. Thanks all.

Episode 30 of Technic Pack with TheNeoublie drawing near

Hello everyone,
I have been a bit slack with my posts even though i have been able to get my episode releases back on track.

I have two major things I wanted to say in this post along with a couple of minor things

a)  I am looking at starting up another series that is focused around a single mod, I am thinking maybe focusing it on thaumcraft 2 but I need to look into any other cool mods that are avaiable to play. another thing I am thinking on is maybe doing a parkor map as well.

- Please suggest and other mods or parkor puzzle maps you recommend.

b) I am looking for ways to increase my subscriber base and need your help.  please tell me if you know any ways I can "up" my exposure and reach a larger audience, I feel that the increase in my subscribers has been great and pushing me to do more with it.

That being said I am looking to also start getting a goal with the likes on my videos, if you like the video please do press the like button.  I wanna see the number of likes be a big number. This will encourage me to push the series further.

and finally as I approach the 30th episode of the series I am wondering if you are interested in a world download.

Leave your comments likes and messages and lets get this party going.

As always,

                  Catch you next time

Moderator status is hard work

Sorry to everyone for not getting a reliease out for the Technic LP, I went to check quickly on the server I moderate, Axis Mundi - my quick check in turned into a three hour ordeal trying to fix two peoples grieffing and theft.

Thanks lie7888 and jjj123thefunky, had a fun time sorting your damage out and hope you get banned from everyother server you grief on.

as for the episode I have it recorded but I need to do post production on it and then upload it, if all go well I will have it up this evening (NZ time, currently 9:18am)

on good news though we have now got Axis advertised on planet minecraft and on the tekkit forums, we now have had a large amount of players joining regularly, this is nice too see.

thank all, and will have the next video up asap.
