Modding with MCP and forge (update)

Hello all,

well I have been doing a little work on the coding I need to learn for my mod and I have been able to make a few new block in the game that can be brought in with creative mod.

Turned out to be easier then I thought it would be to get them created to start with.  how ever best practice for how to lay out and make your classes modular is something none of the tutorials I have been reading, teach.

so I think I am going to have to try and figure out the most manageable way to structure my code.  I hope that I can get it nice and clean so that when I release the code people will be able to learn from it clearly and also not laugh at how noob'ish my first mod might be.

other than working on the mod I have have a fairly busy weekend, and surprisingly not much to do with computers of video games. lol.

Saturday was a nice trip down to Alexandria for the Blossom Festival with my wife and daughters, and then Sunday was an interesting and tiring spring clean of the house.  spend a good few hours at it and only managed to get about maybe 15% of the stuff fully sorted. my family are such hoarders.  I thought I was bad when it came to CD's and DVD's full of files I don't want to delete. lol

anyhow  I will be back into getting some more content up and ready for the Realm tonight so hopefully I will have an episode up then.

ps. feel free to post any good 1.3.2 forge modding tutorials that you find and ...

until next time

Wow, I is so slack lol

Hello everybody, as you can tell from the gap between posts I have been very slack,  this is due to real life issues/responsibilities and limited time to even get videos up.

I am going to try getting back into a better situation so I can start getting more regular content out and also set aside some time for my newest EPIC mine-craft adventure, trying to learn how to mod.

I have some ideas about the kind of mod I am going to be working on and I am going to start putting together some of the initial development ideas.  I am planning on doing some incremental component releases as things become available.  presently there will be no additional world generation but may make use of the ores added by forestry, primary bronze. how ever this will mean that for a short period of time(until I learn and plan out world gen) you will require forestry and forge to be included.

I will be building this on Forge and do plan on it being SMP as some of the things are going to be designed around multiple players and some security stuff, (no spoilers yet though)

the First Phase is going to be a module that adds the blocks required for some of the themed buildings and possibly also a few items.

I am also looking for some talented artists for work on textures and possible some coders to assist with the models and UI's I am going to be needing for my vision of this mod to come to fruition.

finally this will be developed as open source and I will have the repository up on github (as soon as I can get my head around it. I normally use svn) and I will also build api's so that they can be interacted with by other mod.

but until I have more development completed, which is based on more learning of mod development, I will only say watch this space.

And for a temporary code name (until I think of something better) let say...

code name: Project Shadow
